After a heavy 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, the club moved to end Graham Potter’s reign after just seven months.
The 47-year-old manager has managed just four wins in 2023, leaving Chelsea 11th in the Premier League table – 11 points off the Champions League title holders.
The clubs where Potter has played include Birmingham City, Wycombe Wanderers, Stoke City, Boston United, Shrewsbury Town, Maccles field Town, etc.
Chelsea Club announced in a statement: “Chelsea Club announces that Graham Potter has left the club. Graham has agreed to work with the club to facilitate a smooth separation. During his time at the club, Graham led us to the “We have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contributions and wish him well in the future.”
Potter signed a five-year deal to replace Thomas Tuchel in September and Chelsea signed him from Brighton for a £20m release clause.
But he won just seven of his 22 games in all competitions, with a spending spree of nearly £300m in the January transfer window failing to improve the squad.
