Inzaghi: It was a dream for us to reach the semi-finals

Inter drew 3-3 against Benfica in the second leg of the quarter-finals of the European Champions League. Due to the 2-0 advantage with the goals of Niccolò Barella and Romelu Lukaku, Inter was able to advance to the semi-final round of this round with a result of 5-3.

After 13 years, Inter managed to reach the semi-finals of the European Champions League and in the upcoming stage, they have to face Milan in the Delamadonina derby.

Simone Inzaghi, the head coach of Inter, told Amazon Prime Italia after this match: “We are very happy that it was an important night for all of Inter. We deserve to win in two games against a team that has suffered only two defeats so far. “We were. Now we’re in the semi-finals, it’s a dream and we’ll give it our all. We’ve been through a very tough group stage and we’ve been united to get here. We’re trying to experience nights like this that Inter have been doing for years. It’s not fun.”

Inter was grouped with Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the group stage, but managed to get to the elimination stage. Despite this extraordinary success, there were still reports of Inzaghi being sacked due to results in Series A: “I know where the criticism comes from, those who speak well and those who speak badly, sometimes they are offered this criticism. “I’ve been in football for many years and I’m used to it. I do my job to make the fans happy.”

Inter did not have a very successful performance in the defense line by conceding three goals. Inzaghi said: “Antonio Silva did well for Benfica’s second goal, as he did for the third, my boys heard a whistle and thought it was game over. Despite that, it was a fantastic game. And the substitutions really helped. We deserve to be in the semi-finals.”

Edin Dzeko was in the attack again today instead of Romelu Lukaku. Inzaghi explained his decision: “The goal is to have all four strikers and that has practically never happened. The fixture list has been crazy but I have to change the composition of the team and they help me.”
